Dr. Yeshi Dhonden was born in the Tibetan year of the Fire Rabbit on June 15, 1927, in Tibet. In the Tibetan tradition, conception year is also counted. That makes him 85! For more information about Dr.Dhonden, pleaase see his bio on the top frame of this web site.
Dear, dear Genla (teacher dear in Tibetan),
Thank you for all you have done to help so many people in the world with your tireless efforts.
I remember, one time, as coordinator of his medical visits/tours, I asked Dr.Dhonden if he wouldn’t like to go someplace to see as a tourist. I told him that I would arrange for us to go anywhere he liked, just to see something he might not have seen.
He thought a moment. And then, in his usual animated way, responded with the question, “Are there patients there?” In other words, he was not interested unless there were people to help.
In a nutshell, that is my teacher. Always dedicated, focused, and clear about his purpose in this life, to serve others. What a bar he has set for me.
